Modi takes a dig at NCPs Praful Patel over alleged deal with kin of 1993 Mumbai serial blast case

Mumbai: Without taking the name of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Praful Patel and Enforcement Directorate (ED) calling him for questioning in the alleged land deal with kin of 1993 Mumbai serial blasts prime accused Iqbal Mirchi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sarcastically remarked “their misdeeds are slowly getting exposed. They (opposition NCP) did trade deals in “Mirchi”, with “Mirchi”. Slamming the opposition over its stand on serial blasts like 1993, he said that the then Congress government instead of doing justice to the affected people, instead tried to argue that the serial blasts were committed by our own.

Addressing the BJP-Shiv Sena Mahayuti rally at Bandra-Kurla Complex here on Friday, he accused the Congress-NCP led opposition of speaking the language of the neighbor (Pakistan) ever since his government abrogated Article 370 and Article 35A. Referring to the collapse of the Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative Bank (PMC Bank), assured the affected people that the hard earned money of the honest will be protected, but the dishonest (Bank directors) will not be spared. Referring to the incarceration of some (read P Chidambaram), he said that some are lodged in Tihar and some in Mumbai jails. The Prime Minister further remarked that his government has begun the clean-up job and it will be speeded up in the days to come.

Without naming Veer Savarkar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that for the opposition freedom for the country was won by only one family. Stating that there were several unsung heroes of our freedom struggle (read Savarkar), he accused the Congress of insulting Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. Referring to the grand memorial of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj off the coast of Mumbai, he said that the government was committed towards its construction, once the court case is settled.

Referring to the birth of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Mumbai, the Prime Minister remarked that the ties of the BJP with Mumbai is like the umbilical chord has with the womb. Slamming the previous Congress governments over infrastructure projects like Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link (MTHL), Navi Mumbai International Airport and Mumbai Metro project’s, he also sought to remind Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray that it is the BJP led Mahayuti government that has revived these projects that were put in cold storage by the previous government. He slammed the previous Congress government of adding just one Metro line that too of 11 Kms in last 10 years.
