Mumbai: Athletes from the Dr. Vishwanath Karad MIT Sports Academy, operating under MIT Art, Design and Technology University, Pune, delivered an impressive performance to win a silver medal at the recently concluded All India Inter-University Rowing Championship held in Chandigarh.
The prestigious championship featured participation from teams representing nearly 30 universities from across the country. Competing in the highly competitive LM4 Minus (Light Men Coxless Four) 2000-metre event, the MIT Pune rowers showcased exceptional coordination, endurance and discipline to secure a podium finish.
The silver medal-winning team comprised Yogesh Lalit Borole, Aniket Suresh Kolte, Yashraj Popat Gaikwad and Swaraj Aghav. Their achievement has been widely praised in Maharashtra’s university sports circuit.
Much of the credit for the team’s success has gone to national rowing coach Sandeep Bhapkar, whose meticulous planning, technical guidance and rigorous training regime played a crucial role in preparing the athletes for the national-level competition.
The achievement has added another significant milestone to MIT ADT University’s growing sporting legacy. Founder President Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad, Executive President and Pro-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mangesh Karad, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Rajesh S., and Chhatrapati Shivaji Award-winning Sports Director Prof. Padmakar Phad congratulated the athletes and coaching staff for their outstanding accomplishment.
The performance also underlined the rising standards of rowing talent emerging from Maharashtra at the university level.
