Mira Road’s Star Vrindavan complex waves off 2 months maintenance charges amidst COVID-19 pandemic

Gives huge relief to its members

At a time when the coronavirus cases in Mira Bhayander are rising daily and its giving sleepless nights to everybody in the twin city. However, in this tense situation, Star Vrindavan Complex in Mira Road’s Naya Nagar area has decided to give some relief to its flat owners. The managing committee of Star Vrindavan complex has decided to waive off the maintenance charges for the month of April and May.

This comes after the recent directive of the government asking the landlords and flat owners not to charge rent from their tenants for the lockdown period. According to some estimates there are about 60,000 registered cooperative housing societies in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) covering between – Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane and Palghar districts.

Talking to thenews21.com committee member Anees Shaikh said, “In this tense situation we have decided to waive of the maintenance charges for two months and society will bear the expenses from society fund. This is the least we can do for our society members.”

The move by the Star Vrindavan Complex in Mira Road’s Naya Nagar area is bound to put pressure on many other large housing societies in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and elsewhere in the state. The Society Management Committee levies Maintenance Charges from its members to pay for the water, sanitation, cleanliness and other municipal taxes to the local civic body.

Currently, India registered 48 fresh COVID-19 deaths in the past 24 hours, thereby taking the toll to 872 across the nation on Sunday, according to the latest data released by the health ministry. With 1,396 more individuals testing positive for the novel coronavirus, the total confirmed cases rose to 27,892. This figure also includes 20,835 active cases.
