In a shocking incident at Nagpur Railway Station early Monday morning, a mentally challenged man attacked and killed at least two individuals and injured three others. The assailant targeted a group of people sleeping on Platform 6, using a concrete sleeper slab typically found on railway tracks as a weapon.

The victims, taken by surprise, were helpless as the man bludgeoned them. According to reports, the deceased included Ganesh Kumar, a 40-year-old resident of Tamil Nadu, and an unidentified homeless man. Among the injured, two sustained serious wounds and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The horrific event unfolded just before dawn, drawing the attention of a patrolling team from the Government Railway Police (GRP). Upon hearing the commotion and screams, the officers arrived at the scene, restrained the attacker, and prevented further casualties. The 45-year-old assailant initially attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended by the GRP.

The police have since registered a murder case against the attacker and are investigating further into the incident. Authorities have also heightened security measures at the Nagpur station in response to the tragedy.

The railway station, one of Nagpur’s busiest, is now under tighter surveillance as police work to ensure the safety of passengers and prevent similar incidents in the future.
