Mumbai: Launching a blistering attack against the Shiv Sena-led coalition government in Maharashtra, leader of the opposition (LoP) in the legislative assembly, Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday warned that if the Forest minister, Sanjay Rathod does not tender his resignation then the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members in the joint committee on the Shakti Law will tender their resignations from the legislature panel.

Speaking to newspersons on the eve of the Budget session of the state legislature, Fadnavis alleged that even18 days after the suicide of Pooja Chavan no FIR has been filed by the Pune police. He alleged that the First Information Report (FIR) was not filed despite strong evidence.

“Evidence in the form of video clips, photographs and conversations are available. But then too, the FIR was not registered. We demand suspension of Police Inspector of (Wanowrie) police station”, Fadnavis alleged.

“45 calls were made by Rathod to Chavan”, he said.

Forest Minister, Sanjay Rathod is being allegedly linked to the suicide of Pooja Chavan.

Criticising the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, Fadnavis added that police are not acting (against Rathod), the minister himself is not resigning and even the government is not taking any action. “From this, it appears that Rathod has blessings from the top leadership of his party”, remarked Fadnavis further.

The former chief minister also alleged that corruption has taken place in the Covid mitigation programme in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra. The issue will be raised in the Budget session. “We will also release a booklet on the corruption that has taken place in Covid mitigation”, he further said.

Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrakant Patil had earlier warned the government that will not allow the functioning of the House if Rathod does not tender his resignation.

Calling the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government as “hapless”, Fadnavis further alleged corruption in the transfers of senior police officials in the state.
