Meerut: A tragic incident in Meerut, initially believed to be a snakebite death, has taken a shocking turn as police revealed that it was, in fact, a carefully staged murder. The postmortem report confirmed that Amit, a daily wage labourer from Akbarpur Sadat village, was strangled to death, not bitten by a snake as initially suspected.
Amit’s death had sparked widespread speculation when videos began circulating on social media, claiming that he had been bitten multiple times by a snake while sleeping on a cot. Villagers reported that the snake was found underneath his body, reinforcing the initial belief that he had fallen victim to a snakebite. Amit was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead, and the body was sent for a postmortem.
However, the postmortem report, released on Wednesday evening, contradicted the viral claims. It revealed that Amit had died from strangulation, not snake venom. Investigators discovered that the snake had been placed on his body after his death, suggesting the bite was staged to mislead the authorities.
Following the revelation, the police launched a deeper investigation and quickly apprehended Amit’s wife, Ravita, and her lover, Amarjeet. During questioning, both confessed to their roles in the crime. The couple had been in a relationship for nearly a year, and when Amit discovered the affair, it reportedly led to frequent arguments. Authorities believe this led Ravita and Amarjeet to conspire together and murder Amit.
In an attempt to cover up the crime, they staged the scene to make it appear as though Amit had died from multiple snakebites. The police are now expanding their investigation to determine the full extent of the conspiracy, including whether anyone else from the village helped stage the scene.
