In a significant development, the Indian Army announced on Friday that a substantial collection of arms, ammunition, and other incriminating materials had been successfully recovered during a joint operation conducted in the Machhal sector of Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir. The operation, carried out from August 15 to August 18, was initiated based on credible intelligence inputs.
The coordinated effort involved the Indian Army, the Border Security Force (BSF), and the Jammu and Kashmir Police. The operation was launched to address the information provided by various agencies that indicated the possible presence of a cache of war-like equipment in the Machhal sector.
Updating the public, the Army’s Srinagar-based strategic unit, the 15 Corps, took to its official Twitter handle to announce the details. Their tweet read, “Joint Operation launched by Indian Army, BSF and J&K Police in #Machhal Sector Kupwara from 15-18 August based on Intelligence inputs by various agencies of likely presence of a cache of war like stores. Huge cache of arms and ammunition to include 05xAK Rifles, 07xPistols, 04xHand Grenades and other incriminating material have been recovered”.
The 15 Corps also confirmed that the search operation in the area is still ongoing. The recovery of such a substantial cache highlights the effectiveness of coordinated efforts between different security agencies in tackling potential threats and maintaining the security and stability of the region.
