Manoj Jarange, a prominent quota activist, issued a stern warning on Thursday, declaring his intention to challenge the Mandal commission if Maharashtra minister and OBC leader Chhagan Bhujbal obstructed the path to reservation for the Maratha community.

Jarange also conveyed a firm ultimatum, asserting that unless the government followed through on its pledge to issue Kunbi caste certificates to “sage-soyare” or blood relatives of established Kunbi community members, he would initiate a renewed hunger strike commencing February 10.

Addressing reporters, Jarange emphasized the need for mutual coexistence, drawing parallels between the familial ties of government officials and the aspirations of the Maratha community. He urged authorities to desist from impeding their rightful reservation, warning of potential repercussions should such obstacles persist.

“State food and civil supplies minister and OBC leader Chhagan Bhujbal has created problems for the Maratha reservation thrice. He should stop it,” Jarange asserted, pointing fingers at Bhujbal for purportedly obstructing Maratha reservation efforts.

Highlighting the imminent hunger strike scheduled for February 10, Jarange reiterated its purpose: the implementation of the “sage-soyare” directive. Furthermore, he expressed discontent over the unresolved issue of withdrawing criminal cases against Maratha agitators, underscoring the persistent grievances of the community.

The activist’s steadfast resolve underscores the urgency and significance of addressing the demands of the Maratha community, particularly regarding reservation and justice for those involved in previous agitations. As tensions escalate, the government faces mounting pressure to act decisively and address the grievances of marginalized communities effectively.
