Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has expressed deep sorrow and anger over the brutal killing of six people, including three women and three children, by suspected Kuki militants. In his first public statement since the incident, Singh assured that those responsible for the heinous act will face justice.
The victims’ bodies were discovered in a river in Jiribam district last week, triggering a fresh wave of tension in the already strife-torn state. Singh termed the killings a “crime against humanity” and vowed to intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators.
“Today, I stand here with profound sadness and anger to condemn the horrific killings of three innocent children and three innocent women by Kuki terrorists after being taken hostage at Jiribam,” Singh said in a video posted on his X (formerly Twitter) handle.
He further informed that search operations are underway across the region to locate and bring the killers to justice. The incident has reignited concerns about the fragile security situation in Manipur, which has been grappling with inter-ethnic tensions for months.
The chief minister’s strong condemnation and assurance of swift action aim to restore faith in the government’s ability to ensure safety and accountability amid the ongoing unrest.
