Mamata Seeks Court Review of Bhabanipur Poll Outcome
Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has taken the legal route after her defeat in the Bhabanipur Assembly constituency, filing a petition before the Calcutta High Court seeking a review of the election result.
The move comes weeks after the conclusion of the West Bengal Assembly elections, where BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari secured a significant victory in the high-profile contest. Bhabanipur, long considered a stronghold of Mamata Banerjee, emerged as one of the biggest political battlegrounds of the election.
Petition Filed Before High Court
According to reports, Banerjee personally completed the formalities required for filing the election petition and sought judicial examination of the result declared from the constituency.
The petition is expected to challenge aspects of the electoral outcome and request the court to examine the circumstances surrounding the election.
Bhabanipur Result Became Major Political Talking Point
The Bhabanipur contest attracted nationwide attention during the Assembly elections. Suvendu Adhikari defeated Mamata Banerjee by a margin of more than 15,000 votes, delivering one of the most significant victories for the BJP in the state.
The result was seen as a major setback for the Trinamool Congress leadership, particularly because Bhabanipur had been closely associated with Banerjee’s political career.
