Around 10 people have died after a private plane crashed onto a road near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The incident happened on Thursday and was reported by CNN. The plane had taken off from Langkawi International Airport and was on its way to Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport. There were six passengers and two crew members on board.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia released a statement saying that the plane’s first contact with the Subang Air Traffic Control Tower was at 2:47 p.m. local time. The tower gave clearance for landing at 2:48 p.m. Shortly after, at 2:51 p.m., the control tower noticed smoke coming from the crash site. The statement mentioned that the plane didn’t send out a distress call.
According to CNN, Malaysia-based state newspaper Berita Harian reported that the plane crashed into a car and a motorcycle, each carrying one person. Hussein Omar Khan, the head of Selangor Police, stated that forensic experts are gathering the remains for examination and identification. The remains will be taken to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang.
Khan also mentioned that the Ministry of Transport will conduct an investigation into the crash. Videos and pictures from the scene show a burned section of the road that has been cordoned off, with smoke in the air.
