Within a week of Maharashtra’s one of the worst-ever floods which has left 209 people dead and nearly four and a half lakh affected, the state machinery is leaving no stone unturned to reinstate normalcy in the affected regions. Energy Minister Dr. Nitin Raut yesterday visited places in Raigad district of Konkan region which is one of the worst-affected places in the flood with 95 deaths alone.
Dr Raut, after visiting the places, directed to immediately restore the power supply system in Konkan region where life has been disrupted due to heavy rains. AIR correspondent reports that during his visit to Raigad district, Dr Raut inspected the flood affected areas at Pen, Mahad, Nagothane and the damage done to the electricity distribution system in the region. He directed the authorities to complete the work of reinstating the power system in Mahad taluka as soon as possible.
He inspected the tower of the high pressure channel which fell due to the flood water of Savitri river at Mahad. The power supply to the villages in Mahad taluka has been disrupted due to the collapse of two towers of the high pressure line on July 22 due to the flood waters in the Savitri river. However, due to the untiring efforts of the officers and employees, 22 KV was supplied from MSEDCL’s Goregaon switching substation through back feeder on 26th July. The energy minister also inspected the power outages in Rajawadi and Vireshwar villages.
