Maharashtra Reports 107 New COVID-19 Cases; Yearly Tally Reaches 1,700

Mumbai: Maharashtra continues to witness a steady rise in COVID-19 infections as the state reported 107 new cases on Wednesday, according to the Public Health Department. With this, the total number of cases recorded in the state since January 2025 has reached 1,700.

The department also confirmed that two more COVID-19-related deaths were reported in the past two days, raising this year’s death toll to 21. Most of the deceased patients were reportedly suffering from comorbidities, indicating added vulnerability to the virus.

In comparison, Maharashtra had reported 89 fresh cases on Tuesday. The latest figures highlight Mumbai’s continuing status as a hotspot, with 34 new infections detected on Wednesday. Since January, the city has recorded 753 cases—747 of which were reported in the month of May alone.

Other affected regions include Thane district (1 case), Thane Municipal Corporation (7), Navi Mumbai (5), Kalyan Municipal Corporation (1), Pune district (4), Pune Municipal Corporation (44), Pimpri Chinchwad (7), Sangli (1), Sangli Municipal Corporation (2), and Nagpur Municipal Corporation (1).

A total of 18,885 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in Maharashtra since January 1. Health authorities continue to monitor the situation while urging residents to maintain necessary precautions, especially those with existing health conditions.
