Maharashtra MLC Elections Today: Voting Underway for 11 Seats, Counting Scheduled on June 22 Amid Mahayuti Strength Test

Ruling Alliance Secures Early Advantage in Legislative Council Race

The ruling Mahayuti alliance has delivered a strong political message in Maharashtra by clinching six out of 17 Maharashtra Legislative Council seats from local authority constituencies without any contest, according to reports.

While these six seats were decided unopposed, voting for the remaining 11 seats is set to take place on Thursday, June 19. The counting of votes is scheduled for June 22, setting the stage for a closely watched political showdown.

BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP Share Unopposed Wins

Out of the six uncontested victories, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena, and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) secured two seats each, reflecting coordinated seat-sharing within the alliance.

Under the Mahayuti arrangement, BJP contested 11 seats, Shiv Sena fielded candidates in four, and NCP in two, maintaining a structured alliance strategy across constituencies.

List of Leaders Elected Unopposed

Several key leaders have already secured their entry into the Maharashtra Legislative Council without facing a vote, strengthening their parties’ positions ahead of the remaining contests.

From Wardha-Gadchiroli-Chandrapur, Arun Lakhani (BJP) has been elected unopposed, while Prajakt Tanpure (BJP) secured Ahilyanagar. Shiv Sena candidates Ravindra Phatak from Thane and Dushyant Chaturvedi from Yavatmal also won uncontested.

In the NCP camp, Aniket Tatkare from Raigad-Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg and Vikram Kakade from Pune were declared elected without opposition.

High-Stakes Voting for 11 Remaining Seats

The remaining 11 seats are expected to witness competitive contests across multiple regions, with major parties fielding strong candidates.

Key battles include Solapur, where BJP’s Rajendra Raut faces NCP-SP’s Vasantrao Deshmukh, and Jalgaon, which features a multi-cornered fight involving BJP, Shiv Sena-UBT, and a rebel candidate from the Shinde faction.

In Sangli-Satara, BJP’s Dhairysheel Kadam is up against NCP-SP and Independent candidates, while in Nanded, BJP’s Amar Rajurkar is contesting against Congress leader Ramdas Patil.

Other closely watched contests include Nagpur, Bhandara-Gondiya, Nashik, Amravati, Dharashiv-Latur-Beed, Parbhani-Hingoli, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar-Jalna, where multiple party combinations are in play.

NCP Records Full Success in Uncontested Seats

The NCP, part of the Mahayuti alliance, has achieved a perfect strike rate in uncontested seats by winning both of its allotted constituencies.

The party’s victories in Pune and Raigad-Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg have strengthened its position within the alliance, boosting the political influence of its leadership within the state government framework.

Political Momentum Builds Ahead of Counting Day

With voting scheduled and results expected on June 22, Maharashtra’s political landscape is set for a crucial test of strength between the ruling Mahayuti alliance and opposition parties. The outcome will play a key role in shaping the state’s legislative balance going forward.
