Maharashtra Guv BS Koshyari felicitates MBMC commissioner Dilip Dhole for his remarkable work in tackling COVID-19

In March Dilip Dhole was appointed as MBMC commissioner. This was followed by the second wave of Corona in April across the country as well as across the state. In order to prevent the spread of the second wave , the commissioner worked day and night focusing on the three pillars of control, capacity and care.

Coordination was maintained between the local administration and the government to keep coronavirus under control in the city of Mira Bhayander. The decision was taken after a meeting with the municipal officials, ruling party and opposition. At the ward level, a special meeting of the ward committee members was held every month with the ward officers. At the same time, a meeting of all the ward officers and medical officers was being held every evening at 5.30 pm through video conference.

Corona Vigilance Committees were set up at each ward level. Created an app to provide services, facilities to the citizens sitting at home to shop for essential items so the crowd can be controlled.

This reduced the unnecessary crowd on the road. During the Corona period. However, those violating the rules were fined by the Municipal Corporation and the local police administration and a fine of Rs. 86,16,902 was recovered.

In order to diagnose the corona patient at the primary level, special corona testing camps were organized in crowded places where the RT-PCR testing which used to be 1000-1200 has reached 4500-5000 per day.

Commissioner Dilip Dhole increased the number of RT PCR diagnostic machines in the municipal RT PCR lab and reports were received by the citizens on the second day after the corona was tested.

During the second wave of corona in the city, the municipality prepared ICU beds in the municipal hall, community temple. Coordinated with private hospitals increase the number of ICU beds by licensing them to the Corona Hospital. The number of ICU and O2 beds was increased by 250 after the Commissioner took over.

The Commissioner took care from time to time to ensure adequate supply of oxygen in the city through continuous follow up at the government level. On the occasion, a special corridor was created in coordination with the police administration for the timely delivery of oxygen tankers.

There was no shortage of oxygen in the city. On some occasions where there was a shortage of oxygen cylinders in private hospitals, the cylinders available to the corporation were made available to them as a matter of urgency.

As per Maharashtra Government directive, 3 times storage capacity i.e. 113.79 MT is required to be available.In this connection, as per the instructions given by the Commissioner in repeated meetings, at present 155.62 MT of storage capacity has been made available, i.e. additional capacity of 41.83 MT is available with Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation.

Patients who did not have corona symptoms but were diagnosed with corona were allowed by the corporation to undergo treatment at home . Such patients were given a corona kit by the medical officer and the patients were contacted daily by phone through the Covid Call Center for regular information.

Patients who were cured by Corona treatment were also contacted by the call center to inquire about their condition. In order to allay the fears of the patients about Corona and to keep the minds of the patients happy, the Commissioner implemented a great initiative to provide easy music and hymns at Corona Hospital and Covid Care Center in the morning and evening.

Along with Corona, the development of the city was also the main objective of the Commissioner. To preserve the heritage of the city, cultural architecture, construction of art galleries, CC roads and other pending development works were initiated. To maintain the balance of the environment, the work of the solid waste project, sewage treatment plant was started at full capacity.

In order to prevent the spread of corona in the city as well as the development of the city to continue at the same time, the Commissioner made the necessary efforts to create awareness among the citizens, to know their problems and to make the staff aware of their duty. Large scale action was taken against unauthorized constructions in the city under the guidance of the Commissioner.

At present the number of active corona patients in Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation area is 200 and the recovery rate is 97.08%. Also, daily planning is being done as per the instructions of Mira Bhayander Municipal Commissioner to vaccinate maximum number of citizens as per the availability of vaccines and special care is being taken to ensure that both the doses are completed for the second vaccination period.

At the same time, with the availability of a large number of vaccines, special attention is being paid to increase the number of immunization centers to protect as many citizens . At present, a total of 72% of the population is protected by the first dose of the vaccine and 66% by both doses of the vaccine.

The Commissioner was honored at the General Assembly for his remarkable achievements in implementing various plans for the development of the city.

Due to his remarkable performance, Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari honoured Mira Bhayander Municipal Commissioner Dilip Dhole.

The Commissioner has decided to use the amount received for the education of the children who have become destitute due to Kovid in Mira Bhayander area.
