Mumbai: The Maharashtra Government has decided to initiate the admission process for academic year 2020-21. The admission process was halted after the Supreme Court gave an interim stay on the reservation for the Maratha community.
A government resolution issued today said, that the admission process in all educational institutions should be completed, which was halted after 9th September. The GR says that it should not be reserved for Socially and Educationally Backward Class (SEBC).
It also says that those students who have applied for admission from the SEBC quota before 9th of September, 2020 and have not got admission such students should be given admission from the general quota.
The decision will be in force until the interim stay on the reservation is lifted by the Apex court.
Chairman of the sub-committee for Maratha reservation, Ashok Chavan said the decision has been taken to ensure that students do not lose their academic year.
