Mumbai : In a strong disciplinary move ahead of the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) expelled 40 of its members, including leaders and workers, across 37 constituencies on Tuesday. This action follows a wave of rebellion within the party, where several leaders filed their nominations as independent candidates after being denied tickets for the upcoming elections.
The expulsion comes a day after the Election Commission’s deadline for the withdrawal of nominations on November 4, 2024.
