Maharashtra boys’ and Odisha Girls’ lift title at the 30th Kho Kho Sub Junior National Championships

Ranchi: Summit clash between Maharashtra and Odisha in both boys’ and girls’ category ended with both the states winning a title each as the high action-packed week-long 30th Kho Kho Sub-Junior National Championships got over at Albert Ekka Kho Kho Stadium, Hotwar in Ranchi on Sunday.

The boys’ team from Maharashtra won the finals defeating Odisha by 8 points and an inning to defend their crown. The Odisha girls’ on the other hand emerged victorious as they sent back home the defending champions, with a close 7 points win. Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh finished 3rd and 4th in boys category whereas the 3rd and 4th place in girls category was shared by Karnataka and host Jharkhand respectively. Talented Maharashtra player, Ravi Vasave’s performance was adjudged the best in the tournament and was awarded the prestigious Bharath Award while Odisha’s Ananya Pradhan fetched the Eklavya Award for her all-round performance.

The Closing Ceremony and the Prize distribution was graced by Chief Guest Hon’ble C P Singh, Minister of Urban Development, Jharkhand and Organising President of 30th Sub Junior National Kho Kho Championship 2019-20; Dhananjay Singh, Organising Treasurer, JKKA; Aarti Kujur, Vice President, JKKA and other officials of the local state body and KKFI.
