The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has launched a statewide inquiry into individuals who allegedly came in contact with Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti through social media.
According to the ATS, the operation began at 7 am on July 10, with all 14 ATS units across Maharashtra participating in the investigation. Officials said 112 individuals have been identified so far and are being traced, their whereabouts verified, and questioned.
The ATS said the inquiry is based on suspicion that Shahzad Bhatti was using social media platforms to influence and motivate young people to engage in anti-national activities. Authorities are currently examining the nature of these contacts as part of the ongoing investigation.
No arrests have been announced so far, and the inquiry remains underway.
