Maha Govt to formulate new policy for power tariff concessions to businesses in Vidarbha and Marathwada regions

Nagpur: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday said that a new policy is being formulated by the state government in order to give concessions in power tariff for the businesses in Vidarbha and Marathwada region.

He said this in the Legislative Assembly while replying to a bipartisan debate on the development issues in Vidarbha and Marathwada, Fadnavis said that the power scheme worth Rs.39, 602 crore has been approved by the Centre.

The deputy chief minister stated that in order to provide power to the farmers during the day time, the government is paying rent to the land which are under government control as well as to private landowners.

Fadnavis said for Maharashtra alone the central government has approved the Baliraja Sanjeewani Yojana (BSY), adding that there are 69 projects from Vidarbha and 15 projects from Marathwada.  

The deputy chief minister who also holds the Finance portfolio said that 84,588 account holders have announced ownership of as many as eight lakh hectares of land. He said there has been an additional milk collection of two lakh 10 thousand litres in the last three years and the farmers have been getting remuneration of Rs 48 per litre.
