The first phase of the Lok Sabha elections completed on April 19, and with the second phase just a few days away, political parties are pulling out all the stops to secure the most votes. Today, Prime Minister Modi made a speech focusing on the Hindu-Muslim debate.

During a rally in Rajasthan’s Banswara, PM Modi said that if the Congress is voted to power, they could distribute the nation’s wealth among “intruders” and “those who have more children”. He was referring to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s statement that the minority community should have priority access to the nation’s resources.

“Congress manifesto indicates they plan to evaluate the gold holdings of mothers and sisters, gather information about it, and subsequently distribute that property. To whom will they distribute it? Manmohan Singh’s administration had asserted that Muslims should be given precedence in accessing the country’s assets,” PM Modi said.

Soon after his speech, the clips started trending on social media, and even Congress condemned the statement, saying the Prime Minister, through his “lies,” was again dividing Hindus and Muslims.

Congress leader Pawan Khera accused PM Modi of spreading falsehood and claimed that the manifesto has no Muslim-Hindu references.

In a video message shared on Sunday, Khera challenged the Prime Minister to provide evidence to support his claim.

“In the Congress manifesto, there is no mention of Hindu-Muslim. We challenge the Prime Minister to show us if the word Hindu or Muslim is written anywhere in our manifesto,” he said.

However, the hashtag Hindu-Muslim is trending, and people are commenting on it. Some are bashing BJP, while others are supporting it.

“Manmohan Singh’s Regime: Debates: Employment, Hospitals, Nuclear Power, IT Industry, Research & Development. Narendra Modi’s Regime: Debates: Hindu-Muslim, Temples, Mosque, Church, Pujas, Namaz,” a user wrote.

“Rahul Gandhi – JOBS, JOBS, JOBS – ₹ SUPPORT FOR POOR – PROFIT TO FARMERS. Narendra Modi – MUSLIM – MUGHAL – MUTTON. Be absolutely clear, whenever Modi senses he is losing an election, he gives very communal statements to try and bring about Hindu-Muslim polarization. Today’s Modi speech is a big giveaway that BJP is losing the 2024 election, and a desperate Modi is trying to distract from unemployment and price rise by giving absurd communal speeches,” another user wrote.

“Yesterday – called Mohammad Shami his brother and asked for votes in his name. Today – cursing Muslims and asking for votes from Hindus. Today, he has pulled out his last Hindu-Muslim weapon, which shows how dire the situation is,” the fourth user wrote.

Another user wrote, “They remained secular by gifting the country’s property worth crores of rupees to the Waqf Board, and today when PM of India Modi ji spoke their truth, they became communal.”
