Srinagar: Hundreds of leaders and workers from other political parties in North Kashmir on Sunday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) raising speculations of impending assembly elections in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir.

On Sunday a mega program was held at Dak Bungalow in Handwara. Hundreds of party workers from other political parties from North Kashmir joined the BJP in presence of senior party leader Javid Ahmad Qureshi and Dr Dilshada who too had recently joined the BJP.

Speaking on the occasion, Qureshi said that BJP helps poor people of Kashmir. He stated that the administration has distributed Gas sets to people in remote mountain areas. Qureshi said that he was thankful to those people who joined the BJP today.

Addressing the gathering Dr Dilshada remarked “we are Indians and only we can die for India”. She further said “I am very thankful to those who came here to attend the party convention and join the party. She further remarked “if we see our past only then we can imagine how much shoes we had torn off in our long journey so far”.

With leaders and party workers from other political parties joining the BJP in recent times ever since the process of delimitation of assembly constituencies has begun has raised speculation that assembly elections might well be round the corner.
