The Uttar Pradesh police have apprehended Vijay Mishra, the lawyer representing the late gangster Atiq Ahmed, in connection with the killing of Umesh Pal, a crucial witness in the murder case of former BSP legislator Raju Pal.
According to police sources, Vijay Mishra is suspected of providing information about Umesh Pal’s whereabouts to the shooter involved in the crime. His arrest took place outside Hotel Hyatt Legacy in Lucknow late on Saturday night.
The incident of Umesh Pal’s broad daylight murder was captured on video and circulated widely on social media, sparking concerns about the state’s law and order situation. In response to the incident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath assured the state assembly that he would take decisive action to eliminate the influence of mafia elements in the state.
