“Law and Order Has Collapsed in Maharashtra”: Nana Patole Slams Govt Over Pune Rape Case

Mumbai: Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole has strongly criticized the state government over the recent rape case in Pune, alleging a complete breakdown of law and order under the current administration.

Reacting to the shocking incident, Patole said the rise in violent crimes, even in urban centres like Pune, reflects a serious failure in governance and policing. “In Maharashtra, the law and order situation has completely deteriorated. People are no longer safe — whether walking on the streets or even inside their homes,” he said while addressing reporters in Mumbai.

He accused the ruling coalition of focusing more on political consolidation than public safety. “The government is more concerned about securing power and strengthening its party machinery than addressing the fears and concerns of ordinary citizens,” Patole said.

The Pune rape case, which has sparked widespread outrage across Maharashtra, has once again brought attention to the growing incidents of crimes against women in the state. The Congress party has demanded swift justice for the victim and accountability from law enforcement authorities.

“Such crimes are becoming disturbingly frequent, even in cities like Pune that were once considered safe. The government must answer why these incidents continue unchecked,” Patole added.
