Kiren Rijiju Slams Congress for Rajya Sabha Walkout, Says They ‘Ran Away’ From Amit Shah’s Reply

New Delhi: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju launched a sharp attack on the Opposition, particularly the Congress party, following their walkout from the Rajya Sabha during a critical debate on the recent Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. Rijiju alleged that the walkout was a calculated move to avoid facing Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s response.

“Congress orchestrated the walkout from the Rajya Sabha only because they could not face the reply of the Home Minister. Yesterday, the Prime Minister shattered the false narratives created by the Congress and the Left ecosystem. Today, they chose to escape instead of engaging,” Rijiju said while addressing reporters.

He accused the Opposition of disrespecting the sanctity of Parliament and avoiding accountability. “All opposition members were given ample time to speak. But the moment the Home Minister stood up to respond, they walked out. It proves they have no trust in the system and do not respect the dignity of Parliament,” he added.

Rijiju further highlighted the significance of ‘Operation Sindoor’ in restoring national morale following the Pahalgam attack. “The three-day debate in Parliament has made one thing absolutely clear—Operation Sindoor has filled every Indian with pride. The terrorists and their handlers received a fitting response, and the government’s decisive action has sent a strong message,” he stated.

The walkout unfolded during a tense exchange between Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge. Opposition MPs, led by Kharge, demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally brief the Rajya Sabha on Operation Sindoor, as he had done in the Lok Sabha a day earlier.

Kharge reiterated that several Opposition queries were directly addressed to the Prime Minister. “We are not questioning the capability of the Home Minister, but after such a prolonged discussion, the Prime Minister should have been present in the House. His absence, despite being available, is a disregard to the Upper House. It is not right to insult this institution,” Kharge told the Rajya Sabha before staging the walkout.
