Kannada superstar Kichcha Sudeepa is all set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday ahead of the Karnataka Assembly Polls, and this has not gone down well with a section of the society.
As per TV9 Kannada, soon after reports of Sudeepa joining BJP went viral on the internet, the actor received threat letters from unknown persons.
The letters reportedly threatened the actor that his “private videos” will be leaked online.
The TV9 Kannada report stated that the letters used derogatory language against Sudeepa and even threatened to release his private videos.
Sudeepa’s manager Jack Manju received the letters and brought it to the actor’s notice. They then lodged a complaint at Puttenahalli Police Station.
A case has been registered under sections 506 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code, and an investigation has been launched.
As per reports, Sudeepa will join the ruling party in the presence of Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and other eminent party leaders in Bengaluru.
Sudeepa is not the first celeb to join BJP ahead of the Karnataka assembly polls. If reports are to be believed, actor Darshan Tugudeepa too will join the party an hour after Sudeepa.
He too will join BJP in Bommai’s presence.
Both Sudeepa and Darshan are yet to release their official statements on the development.
