New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has reshuffled the leadership of the All India Kisan Congress in four states, appointing new chairpersons with immediate effect. The move comes as the Narendra Modi-led government released the 19th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, benefiting nearly 9.8 crore farmers across the country.

As per the Congress announcement, Kamana Prabhakara Rao has been appointed for Andhra Pradesh, Abhishek Mishra for Chhattisgarh, Dharmendra Singh Chauhan for Madhya Pradesh, and Ashok Kumar Baidya for Tripura. The appointments signal a renewed focus on farmer outreach by the Congress ahead of key elections.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in Bhagalpur, Bihar, released over ₹22,000 crore in direct financial aid to farmers under PM-KISAN through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), ensuring middleman-free assistance. Of the total beneficiaries, 2.41 crore are female farmers.

The Modi government has been actively pushing pro-farmer measures, with Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan recently reiterating the Centre’s commitment to full Minimum Support Price (MSP) procurement of wheat, paddy, lentils, urad, and tur. Chouhan also announced an increase in Kisan Credit limits from ₹3 lakh to ₹5 lakh, aiming to provide financial relief to farmers.
