Why BJP Called Vijayan’s Congress Comparison “Shameless” Before Kerala Polls

A political storm has erupted in Kerala after the Bharatiya Janata Party launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for equating the BJP with the Congress, accusing him of playing vote-bank politics ahead of crucial elections.

BJP Calls It Vote Bank Strategy

Kerala BJP chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar termed Vijayan’s remarks a “shameless attempt” to attract Muslim voters. He alleged that both the Congress and the Left are deliberately creating confusion among voters by projecting themselves as rivals in Kerala while maintaining alliances in other states.

Chandrasekhar also cited examples from other regions, claiming that similar strategies have been used earlier to gain electoral advantage by labelling opponents as proxies.

Congress-Left Equation Under Fire

The BJP leader questioned how Congress and Left parties can claim to be opponents in Kerala while contesting together in states like Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. According to him, this contradiction exposes their political strategy of positioning themselves as anti-BJP forces to secure minority votes.

Vijayan’s Rahul Gandhi Remark Sparks Row

The controversy began after Vijayan described Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as a “B-team” of the BJP, intensifying political tensions in the state. BJP leaders argue that such statements are aimed at misleading the public.

Congress Hits Back

The Congress also responded strongly, accusing Vijayan of making such remarks for political convenience. Party leaders said the Kerala Chief Minister is trying to divert attention and predicted a strong performance for their alliance in the upcoming elections.

High-Voltage Battle Before Polls

With elections to the 140-member Kerala Assembly scheduled for April 9 and counting on May 4, the political atmosphere in the state is heating up rapidly. All major parties are intensifying their campaigns, and such sharp exchanges are expected to influence voter sentiment.

The ongoing clash highlights the fierce competition in Kerala politics, where alliances, narratives, and voter perception are becoming key battlegrounds.
