Dasharathaiah Sudhakar, a prominent Congress leader and Karnataka’s Planning and Statistics Minister, has unleashed scathing criticism against the central government, accusing it of leveraging sensitive events like the Pulwama incident and the inauguration of Lord Ram’s Mandir in Ayodhya for political advantage.

In a fervent address to media representatives in Chitradurga, Sudhakar lambasted the BJP government, alleging that they capitalized on the Pulwama terror attack during the previous Lok Sabha elections, citing it as a ploy to secure votes. He drew a parallel, stating, “This time, they are holding Lord Ram’s photo.” His assertion underlined a pattern of utilizing emotive events for electoral gains.

Expressing skepticism over the recent inauguration of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir, Sudhakar labeled it a calculated maneuver, asserting, “The inauguration of Ayodhya Ram Mandir is a stunt. People are not fools.” He emphasized his conviction that the electorate wouldn’t fall prey to similar tactics for a third time.

The Congress leader highlighted his and MLA Raghumurthy’s contributions towards the construction of the Ram Mandir, citing past involvement in donating bricks for the temple’s construction. Despite acknowledging Lord Ram’s universal significance, Sudhakar denounced the temple’s inauguration as a political gimmick coinciding with the election period.

Unrelenting in his critique, Sudhakar accused the BJP of exploiting India’s religious sentiments to amass votes, posing a rhetorical question, “Where was the Ram Mandir in the last elections?” His statements aimed to challenge the BJP’s timing and intentions behind emphasizing the temple inauguration during electoral campaigns.

The reverberations of Sudhakar’s statements echo against the backdrop of the devastating Pulwama attack on February 14, 2019, where forty CRPF personnel lost their lives in a vehicle-borne suicide bombing. His remarks underscore the sensitivity surrounding political exploitation of such tragic incidents for electoral advantages.

Sudhakar’s vocal condemnation stands as a testament to the charged political atmosphere, where the alignment of religious events and national tragedies with political campaigns sparks debates about ethical and moral grounds in electoral strategies. As the political discourse intensifies, such criticisms shed light on the intricacies of political maneuvering and their resonance within public opinion.
