Karnataka Govt Employee Suspended for Participating in RSS Centenary Event

Lingasugur: A government officer in Karnataka has been suspended after taking part in a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) centenary celebration, raising questions about the conduct of public servants at political or ideological events.

Praveen Kumar K P, serving as the Taluk Panchayat Development Officer of Sirwar and personal assistant to Lingasugur MLA Manappa Vajjal, was seen participating in the RSS centenary celebrations in Lingasugur on October 12. Reports indicate that he wore the RSS uniform and marched in a route procession carrying a stick, actions considered a breach of conduct rules for government employees.

Following an investigation by the Raichur Zilla Panchayat CEO, the Commissioner of the Panchayat Raj Department, Arundhati Chandrashekar, issued a suspension order citing violations of the Karnataka Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 2021. The order places Praveen Kumar under immediate suspension pending further investigation.

In addition to the suspension, a departmental inquiry has been initiated to examine the circumstances of his participation and determine any further disciplinary action. Officials emphasized that government employees are expected to maintain political neutrality and uphold the integrity of their office, avoiding participation in activities that may compromise their official responsibilities.
