Karnataka Government Will Stand Firm for Five Years, Says CM Siddaramaiah Amid Talks of Rift

Mysuru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has firmly asserted that the Congress-led government in the state will complete its full five-year term, dismissing speculation about any friction between him and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. Speaking to reporters in Mysuru on Monday, Siddaramaiah underscored the coalition’s stability by holding Shivakumar’s hand and emphasizing unity.

The Chief Minister stated that the government would remain “solid like a rock” and continue to function cohesively, brushing aside comments from opposition leaders about its longevity.

Responding to the visit of Congress general secretary and Karnataka in-charge Randeep Surjewala, Siddaramaiah clarified that his arrival was meant solely to bolster the party’s organisational strength in the state.

“There is no reason to doubt Surjewala’s role,” Siddaramaiah explained, pointing out that Surjewala would focus on energizing the Congress ahead of upcoming elections.

Meanwhile, questions were raised following remarks by Leader of Opposition R Ashoka, who suggested Siddaramaiah would not inaugurate the Dussehra festival this year. Dismissing these claims, Siddaramaiah reiterated that the Congress government would remain steady, and there was no reason to believe otherwise.

He also targeted the BJP for spreading what he described as false narratives. Citing statements by BJP leaders including Sriramulu, Siddaramaiah argued that opposition parties thrive on misinformation and do not have the facts on their side.

Congress MP Randeep Surjewala’s visit comes at a time when there is chatter about a potential reshuffle in the state organisation following suggestions made by minister KN Rajanna. Party insiders believe Surjewala might hold discussions with legislators to prepare for the upcoming Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat elections.

State Home Minister G Parameshwara commented that he was unaware of the exact reason for Surjewala’s Karnataka tour but confirmed that the Congress high command regularly steps in to consult leaders whenever minor internal differences surface.

Parameshwara also mentioned that he had sought a personal meeting with Surjewala and expected to discuss unrelated personal matters.
