Hours after resigning from the BJP, K Annamalai said his departure from the party followed a prolonged difference of opinion with the leadership.
Annamalai revealed that he had been communicating his concerns to senior BJP leaders for nearly 18 months and had formally informed the party of his decision to resign on December 4, 2025.
According to him, the BJP leadership requested that he remain in the party until the completion of the elections. He said he continued to carry out his responsibilities and election-related work until the end before finally stepping down.
His remarks come shortly after the BJP accepted his resignation, bringing an end to his six-year association with the party and opening the door for his proposed new political movement in Tamil Nadu.
