Srinagar: The Skill Development institute run by Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) NGO, Union Ministry of Skill Development despite working in a frontier district broke all odds and accepted every challenge to make visible vicissitudes in adeptness impartation in the district. The organisation commenced its operation in the non-intervention and far-flung areas of Machil, Tangdhar and Keran.
The JSS institute additionally commenced the special initiative of adeptness impartation among hearing impaired and speech impaired beneficiaries of the district. In the post part training of these especially abled beneficiaries in the National Flag making project, made 8,000 plus National Flags.
On the eve of Adeptness Day, a documentary of the organisation was exhibited across national media and other media platforms. Further, the progress and development of the institute was highlighted in Mann Ki Baat programme by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The achievement of these feats and milestones was not possible without the collaboration of Indian Army and District Administration. The institute is highly thankful to the Indian Army who provided every possible logistics as well as mobilisation support throughout the entire district.Â
Today the JSS has been nominated under the Skill Hub Initiative Project. The institute is working on fixating of the post training part and are about to commence the placement cells, livelihood and engenderment cells for which roadmap has already been framed and under the placement drive 20 electrician technician trainees of deaf and mute beneficiaries were given job placement in collaboration with Indian Army as Electricians.
The institute has been allotted a building for functioning in collaboration by Kupwara Town Municipal Corporation and Indian Army. In the current year nearly 2,200 girls are being trained and certified in different vocational training courses. The institute has already trained about 10,000 beneficiaries in multi-dimensional vocational training courses in different locations of the district. The performance of the institute was highlighted and documented by different PMO recommended media houses and teams. Currently the district administration under ADC Kupwara is framing a documentary on JSS Kupwara.
The JSS offers skill development in courses in 22 sectors. Some of the popular sectors are Apparel Made-Ups and Home Furnishing, Beauty and Wellness, Handicrafts and Carpets, Food Processing, Agriculture, Domestic Worker, Electronics and Hardware and Plumbing among others.
