Speakers demanded the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme and abolishing the New Pension Scheme

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir ReT Teachers Forum District, Kupwara (JKReTTF) held a Back to Zone Programme at TRC Handwara, Zone Handwara. District President Shiekh Parveez, UT Vice Chairman Z Dee Baigh, UT General Secretary Ghulam Mohammad Dar, District Vice president Salfi Mushtaq, District General Secretary Reyaz Ahmad Lone, District Organiser Sajad Ahmad Mir, Secretary Council M A Ganie, Finance Secretary M A Dolipori Sabh presided over the Back to Zone Programme, in which various district body members and senior leaders of the JKReTTF participated and shared their views.
The themes on which the leaders put forward were New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, need of restoration of Old Pension Scheme (OPS) and the issues of teachers.
Emphasis was laid on responsibilities of teachers with regard to implementation of NEP 2020 at school level.
The leaders suggested ways and means to strengthen the organisation at grass root level and raised the Issues of teachers. The leaders also expressed the need to uplift the dignity, status and honour of teachers. The speakers highlighted the drawbacks of the New Pension System (NPS) and demanded its abolishment and restoration of Old Pension Scheme (OPS) in order to secure the postretirement life of employees. Five year service inclusion and many other issues from zone to UT level, were discussed in length.
The leaders who spoke in the meeting include District President JKReTTF Kupwara Shiekh Pervaiz, Vice chairman JKReTTF Zahoor u Din Baigh, UT Secretary GM Dar and District Vice President Sulfi Mushtaq, District General Secretary District patron Tariq Ali Shah, Zonal president Handwara Naseer Din Beigh.
All the speakers while sharing their opinions and ideas regarding the different aspects of the Education Sector hailed the role of teachers for their performances with best of their efforts.
