Fatal Crash Shocks Jalgaon District
A tragic road accident claimed six lives in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district on Tuesday morning when a car, a motorcycle and a State Transport (ST) bus were involved in a devastating collision on the Amalner-Dhule highway.
The accident occurred near Mangrul village at around 7 am, leaving the vehicles severely damaged and prompting a major rescue operation by local authorities and emergency services.
Family’s Journey Ends In Tragedy
According to preliminary reports, a Gujarat-registered car collided with a motorcycle before crashing into an ST bus travelling from Amalner towards Dhule. The impact was so intense that the motorcycle was completely wrecked, while the car suffered extensive damage.
Four occupants of the car — Nandlal Mahajan, Anita Mahajan, Suresh Mahajan and Nirmala Mahajan — lost their lives in the accident. Two motorcycle riders, Nilesh Tawade and Falguni Bhoi, were also killed.
Officials said the family travelling in the car was on its way to Amalner to attend an engagement ceremony when the tragedy struck.
Child Pulled To Safety From Twisted Wreckage
In the midst of the devastation, rescuers managed to save a young child trapped inside the crushed car. Local residents, police personnel and ST bus staff worked together to pull the child from the mangled vehicle.
The successful rescue provided a rare moment of relief at the accident scene as emergency teams continued rescue and recovery efforts.
Several Injured, Driver Hospitalised
The car’s driver, Aditya Mahajan, sustained serious injuries, including multiple leg fractures, and was rushed to a private hospital for treatment.
Deepak Dilip Patil, a passenger travelling on the ST bus, was among those injured in the crash and received medical attention.
Police, ambulance teams and emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and shifted the injured to nearby hospitals.
Probe Launched Into Cause Of Accident
Authorities have sent the bodies of the deceased for post-mortem examinations and launched an investigation into the circumstances that led to the collision.
Police officials are examining evidence from the scene and recording witness statements to determine how the crash unfolded.
