ISIS threaten Afghans to remove surveillance cameras

New Delhi: Almost 48 hours after attacking the central prison in Nangarhar of Jalalabad city in Afghanistan, terrorists of the Islamic State (IS) have issued threats to Afghan citizens to remove all surveillance cameras from their localities. The fresh threat from the terrorist organization comes after their attack on the prison killed 32 people and left around 60 people with serious injuries.

According to reports, the IS issued their threat to the locals of the eastern Afghan province of Nangarhar wherein are warned to immediately remove surveillance cameras installed on their shops, markets, and houses.

The issued statement reportedly read that if a video of their members is shot, handed over to the government, or posted on social media, the lives of those involved in doing so will be endangered. A social media post claiming to be part of the IS threat read ‘We have no intention of harming ordinary Muslims, and we urge all of you to do no harm to the Islamic Khilafah’s men’.

Security experts claimed that the threat has been issued to avoid recognition of IS members, operatives and supporters who were involved in the dreaded attack launched on Sunday. The attack began on August 2 – the last day of Eid ceasefire between the Taliban and the Afghan government – when a car bomb was blasted at the entrance of the Jalalabad prison, followed by an attack within the prison’s premises.

In its statement released after the incident, IS had claimed that it had freed “hundreds of Muslims” from the prison. Around 300 IS captives who were held in the prison are now on the run, confirmed Afghan forces.
