Mumbai: A few days ago, it was reported that Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar broke a record of most selfies while promoting his new film, ‘Selfie’. But the news is that his film has flopped, remarked Clyde Crasto, national spokesperson, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
In a statement issued here on Monday, the NCP spokesperson further remarked, “Now we hear that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced ‘One Crore Selfie’, a campaign by its Mahila Morcha, to be launched by Union Minister Smriti Irani in Maharashtra.”
“Is it ironic that both are launching ‘Selfie’ one after the other, or was this a well thought plan knowing the proximity of actor Akshay Kumar with the BJP?”, asked Clyde Crasto.
Lately, Smriti Irani has been very silent on issues related to Women and Child Development, of which she is the Union Minister, but has been vocal only on issues where she has to defend her party.
Her launching this ‘Selfie’ campaign will surely lead to intrigue among people because of its similarity. Therefore, a question comes to mind, Is BJP and Union Minister Smriti Irani trying to promote and save Akshay Kumar’s flopped film ‘Selfie’? he questioned further.
