Iran says it will target anyone who had a role in the cowardly assassination of General Soleimani. Tehran vows to blow the US away if even a single Iranian citizen is harmed in any military operation carried out by Washington

New Delhi: Voicing a major threat to US President Donald Trump, the commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has said that Iran is serious about taking “revenge” for the slain general Qaseem Soleimani. Iranian General Soleimani, who was killed in a US strike in Baghdad in early January – was revered, alleged by Washington to have broken international laws and supported radical groups against the western world.

The threat to President Trump comes on the heels of the Abraham Accords Peace Agreement signed between Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain in Washington.

“Mr. Trump! Do not doubt our [vow of] revenge because it is certain and serious. Our revenge will be a fair one,” said Maj-Gen Hosein Salami, while adding that this is why Iran did not target the US soldiers at Ain al Asad.

Less than a week after Soleimani’s killing, the IRGC launched ballistic missiles at the Ayn al-Asad (Ain al Asad) airbase in Anbar Governorate, western Iraq, as well as another airbase in Erbil. The attacks left no deaths behind, but Washington said later that over 100 US service members had been treated for traumatic brain injuries from the attack.

“We will target those who have had a direct or indirect role in the killing of Soleimani. Do you think that we will target a female ambassador in return for the blood of our martyr?” said Salami, referring to US media alleging that the Islamic establishment was plotting to assassinate the US ambassador to South Africa in retaliation for Soleimani’s killing. “The Americans should know that we will target anyone who had a role in the cowardly assassination of General Soleimani, and this is a serious warning,” he said.

A few days ago, President Trump warned that the US will retaliate with a “1,000 times greater” force against any attack by the Islamic Republic on its interests.

“You are threatening us with a 1,000-times greater attack while being badly plagued with your own domestic problems, but when we targeted Ain al Asad, we assumed that you would respond and had therefore made hundreds of missiles ready to destroy targets in case you responded,” Salami said.

“These are serious warnings. We do not engage in a war of words, we rather leave everything to the battlefield,” the IRGC chief voiced while warning Washington that Iran will blow the US all away if one single Iranian is harmed even slightly.
