A post is going viral on social media in which an influencer claims that the BJP government approached him to defame the CJP student protest through paid content.
In the video, the influencer alleges that he received an email offering him ₹40,000 to create two Instagram reels. According to him, the assignment required him to criticise the Congress, defame the ongoing student protest, and praise the BJP government for its work.
The influencer further claimed that he was instructed to pose as a student while making the videos. He also alleged that the PR agency offered to provide video clips from previous Congress governments to use against the party in the content.
On March 20, the “Sansad Chalo” protest was organised, with thousands of students and people from different parts of India participating. However, the demonstration later turned chaotic after police allegedly resorted to lathi-charge and used tear gas to disperse the crowd.
Several students were reportedly injured during the protest, and multiple FIRs were registered. The agitation also received support from several political parties, with a number of Opposition leaders publicly backing protest leader Abhijeet Dipke.
The catalyst for the protest was activist Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike, which has now continued for more than 20 days. The primary demand of the protesters is the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
A few rounds of talks were held between government representatives and the protesters on March 20. However, no agreement could be reached, and the protest continues.
