Mumbai: Amidst the stand-off with Chinese troops on the Ladakh border, Chinese role in the Covid-19 pandemic and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India) is getting big support from Indian trader’s community. The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) the biggest association of traders which has six crore members all over India has launched a drive from June 10 to boycott Chinese goods.
Speaking to TheNews21, CAIT national vice president Kirti Rana said “we have listed almost 3,000 items which are imported from China and now they are available in Made in India. Even the Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) suits and N-95 masks are now available in Made in India options. China is blamed for corona pandemic and it is also creating unrest at borders. By boycotting china products we are serving our nation”.

Another large traders body having large base holding, Bharat Udyog and Vyapar Mandal which has around six crore member all over India have begun boycotting Chinese goods. Some of its members in Punjab and New Delhi have cancelled orders worth crores, said Kishor Kharavala, office bearer of the Vyapar Mandal. He added that people are ready to buy Made in India product, just that traders must give them the option.
“We are running Make in India drive last two years but this time we are getting good response from people at large. We will definitely create self-reliant India”, Kharavala said.
