Indian Army organises medical camp at Government High School, Kigam in Kupwara

Srinagar: In consonance with the ongoing celebrations for ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mohotsav’ and ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’, the Kandi Battalion under aegis of Charkut Garrison of Indian Army organised a day-long medical camp at the Government High School Kigam. The medical camp was organised to treat the sick and needy from the remote areas in the vicinity of Kandi & Kigam villages.

Leading specialist doctors drawn from various Army hospitals and the civilian administration were pooled in together for the camp to render on the spot consultation and treatment to the patients.

The medical camp also provided the facility of Veterinary doctors for treatment of animals of locals from these remote areas and free medicines were provided to the animals for their wellbeing in the winter months.

The medical camp was organised under Operation Sadbhavna to provide medical care to the villagers in the area at their doorsteps.

A total of 952 locals including children, women and elderly people, visited the camp and consulted the doctors. Besides medical consultations and check-ups, medicines were also provided to the people.

Villagers appreciated the initiative taken by the Indian Army and expressed hope that such types of medical camps are organised across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on a regular basis.
