United Nations: India has strongly rebuked Pakistan at the United Nations, demanding that it immediately vacate its illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, made the statement on Monday during a UN Security Council (UNSC) Open Debate on advancing adaptability in UN peace operations.

“Jammu and Kashmir was, is, and will always be an integral part of India. Pakistan continues to illegally occupy the territory of Jammu and Kashmir, which it must vacate,” Harish declared, responding to Pakistan’s attempt to bring up the Kashmir issue at the forum.

India rejected Pakistan’s claims, calling them an attempt to divert attention and push a divisive agenda. “Such repeated references neither validate their illegal claims nor justify their state-sponsored cross-border terrorism,” Harish added.

Relations between India and Pakistan have remained tense since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, which revoked Jammu and Kashmir’s special status. India has maintained that it seeks normal ties with Pakistan but insists on an environment free from terror, hostility, and violence.

This is not the first time India has condemned Pakistan’s remarks on Kashmir at global platforms. In February, Indian diplomat Kshitij Tyagi slammed Pakistan at the UN Human Rights Council, calling its statements “baseless and malicious”. He accused Pakistan of spreading falsehoods backed by its military-terrorist complex and using the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for propaganda.
