New Delhi: The Government of India has issued a safety advisory for its nationals in Nepal after violent youth-led demonstrations shook the country, leaving at least 19 people dead and hundreds more injured.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) urged Indian citizens to remain vigilant and strictly comply with the restrictions and curfews enforced by the Nepali authorities.
In a statement, the MEA said it was “closely monitoring the situation” and expressed sorrow over the heavy loss of young lives. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased. We also wish a speedy recovery for those injured. As a close friend and neighbour, we hope that all parties will show restraint and resolve issues through peaceful dialogue,” the statement read.
The advisory comes as the Nepali government has enforced curfews in Kathmandu and several other major cities to control unrest triggered by the Gen Z–led protests.
