India Issues Fresh Iran Travel Advisory, Asks Citizens to Avoid Non-Essential Visits Despite Peace Progress

Embassy Recommends Caution Despite Improving Situation

The Indian Embassy in Tehran has issued a revised travel advisory, asking Indian nationals to avoid all non-essential travel to Iran until further notice. While acknowledging that the overall security environment has shown signs of improvement, officials have stressed that travellers should continue to exercise caution.

The advisory comes as authorities closely monitor developments in the region following recent diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions.

Safety Remains the Priority

According to the embassy, Indians who are already in Iran or those who must travel for essential reasons should remain alert and strictly follow instructions issued by local authorities.

The embassy said: “The Embassy of India, Tehran, has been closely monitoring the prevailing security situation in the Islamic Republic of Iran. In light of recent positive developments and the improvement in the overall situation, the Embassy wishes to issue the following revised advisory for Indian nationals contemplating travel to Iran.”

It further added: “Notwithstanding the recent improvements, Indian nationals are advised to continue to avoid all non-essential travel to Iran until further notice.”

Registration with Embassy Strongly Recommended

Indian citizens currently staying in Iran and those planning essential visits have been advised to register their details with the Embassy of India in Tehran as soon as possible.

The advisory stated: “All Indian nationals currently in Iran, and those arriving in Iran, are strongly advised to register their particulars with the Embassy of India, Tehran, at the earliest opportunity. They are also advised to regularly monitor the Embassy’s official website and social media platforms for updates and any further advisories that may be issued.”

Officials have also encouraged travellers to keep checking official communication channels for any changes in the security situation.

Peace Talks Offer Hope but Advisory Continues

The latest advisory follows reports that Iran and the United States have agreed on a 14-point framework intended to end months of regional conflict. Representatives from both countries recently held discussions in Switzerland to advance the proposal.

Reacting to the diplomatic progress, US Vice President JD Vance said:“The final deal is the house. We set the foundation. We haven’t built the house, but we’ve laid a successful foundation to get to a good place for the American people.”

Despite these developments, Indian authorities have chosen to maintain a cautious approach and continue advising citizens to postpone non-essential travel until further updates.
