New Delhi: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday commissioned two state-of-the-art multi-mission stealth frigates, INS Udaygiri and INS Himgiri, declaring them as symbols of India’s self-reliance and military resilience.
Speaking at the ceremony, Singh said India’s naval power is not just about safeguarding seas but also about protecting economic security, as the nation’s oil and natural gas lifelines heavily rely on maritime stability.
“The commissioning of INS Udaygiri and INS Himgiri is a dream come true towards Atmanirbhar Bharat… both these warships will prove to be a milestone in the country’s security,” Singh asserted.
Turning to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed several Indian tourists, Singh revealed that India struck back with ‘Operation Sindoor’, a cross-border precision offensive targeting terror havens in Pakistan.
“India never attacks first, but when our security is threatened, we know how to respond effectively,” Singh warned, underscoring India’s policy of non-expansionism but decisive retaliation.
