IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Heavy Rainfall in Several States: Coastal, Northeast Regions on High Alert

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy rainfall in several parts of India, prompting a yellow alert for specific regions. States in Peninsular and Northeast India are expected to experience significant rainfall, while other areas, such as Delhi, will see clear skies with no rain expected in the coming days.

Regions Under Yellow Alert

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for the following states:

  • Tamil Nadu
  • Kerala
  • Arunachal Pradesh
  • Assam
  • Meghalaya
  • Nagaland
  • Manipur
  • Mizoram
  • Tripura
  • Coastal Karnataka

Detailed Weather Report

In South Peninsular India, widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected over Lakshadweep, Kerala & Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, and Coastal & South Interior Karnataka. Scattered rainfall will likely affect North Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Telangana, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam on October 9. These conditions are expected to persist for the next six days.

Meanwhile, isolated heavy rainfall is anticipated in parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Meghalaya in Northeast India today.

Weather Forecast for Delhi

In contrast, Northwest, West, East, and Central India are expected to experience dry conditions, with no rainfall forecasted. In Delhi, the weather will remain clear, with partly cloudy skies and a maximum temperature of around 35 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature is expected to hover around 23 degrees Celsius.

IMD Advisory for Coastal Regions

The IMD has warned coastal regions of potentially hazardous winds, blowing at speeds of 35-45 kmph until October 11. Fishermen in these areas have been advised to avoid venturing into the sea during this period due to the rough conditions.

With the ongoing weather alerts, residents in affected regions are urged to stay updated on further advisories and take necessary precautions against potential heavy rainfall.
