Mumbai: Appealing to the opposition to come forward to find out the solution on metro car shed problem of Metro 3 line, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that no development project should be stalled for ego. Thackeray advocated for the Kanjurmarg site location for metro car shed and said it will be suitable for three metro lines.

Stating that leaders from the opposition BJP would be “credited” if they facilitate the implementation of the Kanjurmarg car shed project, he said creating hurdle will not solve the purpose.

Reacting to Thackeray’s statement, leader of opposition in state legislative assembly, Devendra Fadnavis said, the question is not about taking credit but of providing comfort and amenities to Mumbaikars.

“To take credit for the work done is not the nature of BJP. There will be no need of extra land for car shed,” he said, adding that the statement of the Chief Minister is misleading.

Fadnavis also asked Thackeray to read the report of the high-powered committee of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) and said the report should be made public.

“Make the report public. The situation, stand taken and reality will come to the fore. The committee had said that if the metro car shed project is shifted then it will lead to huge financial losses. Besides, it will delay the project by four years,” Fadnavis said.

The former Chief Minister also questioned as to why the information is hidden that even if the car shed is made in Kanjurmarg, then to construction will have to be done in Aarey Colony.

“Construction of the tunnel is being done by keeping in view the Aarey land. 80 per cent of the work is completed. Now, if any other land is selected then it will lead in wastage of land money and time,” he said further.

The Bombay High Court has stopped the construction work of metro car shed at Kanjurmarg and ordered a status quo be maintained. Thackeray government has shifted the location of the car shed from Aarey Milk Colony to Kanjurmarg. The HC slammed Thackeray government over Kanjurmarg car shed and hence the government has to find out the alternate location.

On the backdrop of these current incidents, it was considered that CM Thackeray will speak on this issue during his public address today through the social media platform.

Talking about the contentious metro car shed project at Kanjurmarg in Mumbai he said, the project is coming up on 40 hectares of land and will serve as a car shed for three metro lines. He said the Aarey Colony metro car shed project was happening on 25 hectares of land and would have only one crashed for a single metro-line.

No night curfew

Thackeray on Sunday asserted that there is no need to impose night curfew in the state. He urged people to continue to wear a mask for the next six months even after the Corona preventive vaccine arrives.

He further said that 70 to 75 per cent people in the state are wearing a mask, but there are still some who do not follow the norms and hence appealed them to wear a mask to protect the society and their family.

He said wearing a mask is like a weapon which can protect a person from Covid-19.

The Chief Minister also said that the state government is going slow on re-opening schools. He said students in some European countries contracted the infectious disease after they went to schools, as a reason the state government would take a call once consistency is maintained in controlling the cases.

Thackeray also said that developmental projects are on in the state despite the crisis. He admitted that the state is going through a phase of financial instability but still memorandum of understanding are being signed to start developmental projects in the state.
