Himanta Biswa Sarma Alleges Gaurav Gogoi’s Wife Collected Intel for ‘Pakistani Climate Lobby’

Guwahati: In a sensational political development, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday levelled serious allegations against Congress leader and newly appointed Assam Congress chief Gaurav Gogoi, claiming that his British wife Elizabeth Colburn was involved in gathering Indian intelligence documents on behalf of the “Pakistani climate lobby.”

Addressing a press conference, Sarma stated, “His wife monitored IB documents and quoted those. That means she must have someone in the IB. It is a very, very serious allegation. I have documents to prove that his wife, Elizabeth Colburn, was involved in collecting various intelligence reports.”

Sarma alleged that Elizabeth Colburn worked for international climate lobbies with connections to Pakistan, accusing Gogoi of being a “Pakistani agent.” He further added that the Assam government has documentary proof, and all details would be made public on September 10.

“This is not just political rivalry, this is a national security concern,” Sarma said, asserting that such matters needed full transparency and public accountability.

In response, Gaurav Gogoi dismissed the charges as baseless and politically motivated. Refuting the allegations, he said, “I went to Pakistan just once, 12 years ago. The BJP is scripting this like a C-grade Bollywood movie that is going to flop miserably.”
