Huge haul of 21 Kg of Heroin worth Rs 1.34 crore, hard cash and a cash counting machine recovered
Srinagar: Acting on a reliable information, Handwara police on Thursday have busted a Pakistan sponsored Narco-terror module and arrested three terrorist associates of proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Incriminating materials that included cash Rs.1.34 crore and narcotic substance Heroine 21 Kg (worth Rs 100 crore in market value) and a cash counting machine were recovered from their possession.
The arrested trio includes – Abdul Moomin Peer, S/o late Mohammad Ashraf Peer, R/o Waskura Handwara, Islam Ul Haq Peer, S/o Mohammad Ashraf Peer, R/o Waskura Handwara and Syed Iftikhar Indrabi, S/o Syed Ateequlla Indrabi, R/o Laribal Rajwar Handwara from Handwara. The other absconded involved persons have been identified and efforts are being taken to arrest them as well.
The module was in close contact with Pakistan based terror handlers and was involved in drug trade and assisting financially to active terrorists of proscribed terror outfit LeT. The recoveries also exposed the inter connection between drug dealers and terrorists.

The module was working for LeT outfit to strengthen their activities in the valley and were misguiding and motivating the local youth of the Valley to join militant ranks.
A case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Handwara and investigation has been taken up. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to ascertain the details of accused’s ties with terrorist outfits, radicals, smugglers and other anti-national elements.
