Srinagar: In its continuous offensive against menace of drug abuse and drug peddling Handwara Police has stepped up its war against drugs. In an operation carried out in Machipora village on Wednesday, the Handwara police arrested one Aijaz Ahmad Mochi with Charas in his possession.
Based on reliable information a police party of Handwara Police Station conducted patrolling in Machipora village in the jurisdiction of its Police Station checking vehicles and pedestrians.
During checking one person namely Aijaz Ahmad Mochi, S/o Khazir Mohammad Mochi R/o Gorihakar who after seeing the patrolling party tried to escape from the spot but was apprehended tactfully by the patrolling party and during his personal search 180 gms of Charas was recovered from his possession.

In this connection case FIR No. 25/2021 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered against him in Police Station Handwara and investigation taken up.
These efforts are hugely hailed by the general masses. Handwara Police has appealed to the general public to co-operate in sharing all the information related to drug abuse so that curative steps can be initiated.
